As part of his language development, I have taken advantage of the resources the web has. He watches shows in English and sometimes in Spanish, to practice his listening skills.

This site is about three different birds and how they interact with each other and the world around them. He enjoys watching different types of personalities share life around a pond. He can also pick up a lot of vocabulary and expressions.
Using the net as a resource has been a wonderful experience all around. We hope to continue using it as a learning tool.

Thanks for the website address…we will definitely use it.
Thanks! I saw your post at multilingalliving’s forum. I’m Chinese and living in Japan with my Japanese husband. We’re also doing OPOL to our kid.
He’s 2 years old but hasn’t started to speak any thing yet. I become worried and trying to find out something helpful on internet. It’s great to see someone like you who’s doing great! So encouraging!

Hi Fei,
Thanks for your comments. It’s great that your child can have a bilingual family at home. As you know, some kids usually begin to express themselves by 3. Take a look at your family history if possible to see at what ages the parents began speaking. I have a Japanese / Taiwanese niece here in Taiwan and she didn’t say much until she was 3. Now she plays with both languages. The best advice I can give is not to compare with others and do your research online. Don’t worry too much because at 2, a child is going through a lot of changes. I had to read books and find info online to know more about it. It’s usually the parent who needs to change.
For my son, we always included him in our daily conversations and we chose not to interact with him using baby language. I found this book useful.
Take a look at your family objectively and see where you guys are going..
Best Regards,
Chameleon Dad
